Everybody had an "Upstairs Neighbour". That one who wakes you up on Sunday morning with a cheerful wall drilling or the one that smashes with a hammer onto the wall when you are relaxing after a hard day at work.

My Upstairs Neighbour is a different kind.

He talks. All the time.

And not to himself while watering the plants (we all do that sometimes too).

He stands on a balcony, smokes, looks around the yard in front of the house and talks to everyone. Passers-by, neighbours who come out to their balconies, kids, mothers, strangers... himself.

- LA LA LALALA LA-LA...

I just heard him singing while eating my lunch, and that's how this post got born.

The Upstairs Neighbour is not the person that makes "home" for me, but he definitely is a character. Just like the dentist lady made my previous place special, my current "hobbit hole"got it's own funny persona.

The Upstairs Neighbour who would never miss a chance to start a conversation with me, be I alone or with someone. As soon as I go to the balcony, he is there:

- Dzień dobry!

And if I don't reply "dzień dobry back", he won't stop calling from his balcony:

- Halo! Halo! HALO!

And I hide away.

Not only me, actually. Most people he tries to talk to just ignores him and goes about their days. It never really stopped The Upstairs Neighbour. Every day he gets out on his balcony, and tries to talk. Tries to have a conversation. I wonder if he is happy with a random small talk that he gets from time to time with people who reply. I wonder how often does it happen.

Perhaps, I should talk to him?
